Maximising Your Out Laps

The beginning of a race presents drivers with the best opportunity to build an advantage on the competition because when tyres are cold and there's limited grip, times fluctuate more than when things warm up and the grip is available to the driver. As we know, when one pedal is being used (either brake or throttle) it's pushing the kart into the track and trying to give us more grip. So by trail braking into corners, this can enable the kart to generate more grip at the beginning of a race, but once a driver feels as though the kart is now stable, they can go back to the more traditional Brake / Roll / Accelerate method. But it's good to adapt your driving styles to suit the different conditions and how the kart is responding on the early laps.
